The valley is sealed off by the Cascade Vary into the northeast and because of the Klamath Mountains towards the northwest. During the much north the terrain is rugged and closely forested, turning out to be wetter around the coastal aspect and drier and barren in the upper northeast. In the south the Central Valley is closed off via the transverse
